Prologue
Hope
As you expected, Your Excellency, Lady Night has already left the Hall of Despair
A violent tremor suddenly erupted from the dark void, sweeping through the entire Shadow Realm like a hurricane, as everything rapidly collapsed, was destroyed, and met its end, as if the apocalypse had arrived
Opportunity," the old man repeated softly, turning his gaze towards the young man
"Where is she?" the old man asked directly
On his gray wizard robe, there was an unusual pattern embroidered on the chest area. Against a red background, three peaks were outlined in black, and atop the peaks, a silver sphere was shimmering.
"In spring, seeds are sown, but in autumn, one may not necessarily reap a harvest." The old man said softly, as if to himself
"Or, Lady Night suddenly abandoned and *illustrated* her loyal priests—including Eglary," Hodgerhana's voice sounded cold and rigid, devoid of any inflection, yet his pace subtly quickened, "or, she is no longer able to respond to the prayers of her followers"
The palace of the Lord of the Shadow Souls was shrouded in deep darkness, devoid of any light. An elderly man sat in the spacious throne, resting his left hand on his cheek, gazing into the dark void before him, seemingly lost in thought
The young man nodded slightly. "This is an opportunity, Father"
It is still unclear for the time being, but I believe it is in the material world, someone said, with a hint of cunning in their voice, because her pastor has been unable to establish any contact with her
The old man slightly raised his eyes, looking at his loyal assistant, who was staring blankly into the void in front of him, as if he had never uttered a single word.
The old man nodded slightly. Indeed, no matter what trouble Shaer has encountered, at this moment, she can no longer control the City of Shadows as tightly and securely as she did for the past thousand years.
However, this is merely a superficial phenomenon
The deliberate sound of footsteps softly echoed as someone walked in through the door
The elderly man slowly nodded and made a small gesture towards Huo Jieha Na. The assistant slightly bowed and retreated.
Yet they can reap hope. The young man smiled faintly, bowed deeply once more, and when he straightened up, his figure had already vanished into the shadows
"In any case," Hojahna shifted the topic, "this is an opportunity"
The transparent shadow shield instantly rose, enveloping the entire Ghost City securely within it, yet this was insufficient to completely withstand the invisible and violent shockwaves. The city seemed like a small boat tossed about in a furious tide, rocking and swaying unpredictably. The residents, who were in deep slumber, were abruptly awakened, panicking and at a loss, unaware of what was actually happening.
It is unclear how much time has passed, but the tremors have finally subsided. The City of Shadows has regained stability, still floating in the air, as the shadow shield gradually faded away and ultimately disappeared, as if everything had returned to its original state
This is not the key issue; the young people still smile. Whether Ms. Night encountered a minor accident or faced significant trouble, whether she was exiled to the material world or suddenly killed by Lansendell—of course, the latter possibility is quite slim. None of these are the key questions; the real key issue is: at this moment, she can no longer control the City of Shadows.
The elderly man slightly turned his face to look at the newcomer
Exile? The old man shook his head slightly, "Perhaps this is just a minor mishap involving Lady Night. After all, we do not yet know the truth, Brenas, so we should not jump to conclusions"
That existence which we do not know, yet undoubtedly exists
Lady Night has left the Shadow Realm, and the priests who are far from her have lost all divine powers, the young man said slowly, no one can be an obstacle anymore, including Revalan. Father, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
"Even if Amanata were to be resurrected, she would not be able to achieve this." From the shadows, a young voice suddenly emerged, clear, elegant, and gentle, carrying a hint of sharpness. A young man draped in a gray cloak slowly stepped out of the void, deeply bowing to the elder and Hojahana. His features were handsome, his eyes like stars twinkling in the night sky, and his lips always bore a slight smile, humble, never ostentatious, yet full of confidence. "Continue, Hojihana," the old man said
He did not mention the name of "that person," as he did not know it either. However, the three people present all understood whom the young man was referring to
Lady Night is one of the most powerful deities in the realm, the young man continued, no being can exile her—except for that one.
I do not know, "Hodgehanna answered honestly
"But who can accomplish this?" the old man retorted, automatically disregarding the first possibility mentioned by Hojahna. "Who can expel the Goddess of the Night from her own divine realm and cast her down to the material world? Tyr? Randendel? Or... has Amanata already been resurrected?"
